In a significant display of community effort and solidarity, a free medical camp was held at the Culture Hall on February 13th and 14th, 2025, to address the urgent health and emotional needs of street children in Kisii County. The event, running from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, was a collaborative initiative spearheaded by Oasis Health in partnership with the Kisii County Government, and several other local organizations, including Gentle Souls Champions Inc., Victory Child Empowerment, and Team Up Charity, among others.
The camp offered free medical assessments, mental health evaluations, food, and various essential donations aimed at improving the lives of street children in the region. A total of 100 street children benefited from the services, receiving much-needed medical care and supplies, including food, footwear, and beddings.
“This camp is a step toward providing these vulnerable children with the necessary resources to improve their health and well-being,” said a representative from Oasis Health. “Our goal is to reach as many street children as possible and help them break free from the cycle of poverty.”
The initiative emphasized the importance of mental health support and coping strategies, offering a safe space for children to engage with counselors and develop emotional resilience. Additionally, stakeholders aim to raise awareness about the plight of street children and the need for sustainable solutions to address the root causes of their homelessness and poverty.
